Reading#
During this period, I mainly read three books: "Using Oneself as a Method," "Being Involved," and "On the Right Bank of the Argun River." I also gained some insights about reading methods - "There is no need to force oneself to finish a book within a specific time frame." When it comes to reading, random reading may bring me greater rewards compared to task-oriented reading.
Here is an excerpt I made while reading the book "Being Involved" today. The content is quite interesting.
Many languages, such as English, have tenses. Therefore, when talking about the "past," "present," and "future," the grammar changes, creating a sense of "alienation." The future is not the same as the present, so why worry about the future? It's better to live in the present. As a result, people who speak this kind of language have a lower savings rate. Many languages, such as Chinese and German, do not have tenses. The "me of the past," "me of today," and "me of tomorrow" continue indefinitely, so people have a higher savings rate.
I used to read books on Kindle before, but exporting notes was quite troublesome. Now I have switched to WeChat Reading, which, with the help of this plugin for Obsidian, makes exporting notes very convenient. Moreover, WeChat Reading also supports reading on multiple devices.

This podcast episode about AI discusses many topics that interest me, such as "Innovations in AI in the gaming industry," "How the world of software will be changed," and "How the open-source LLama 2 stimulates innovation in large models."
Chillchat is a podcast where a long-distance couple discusses how to learn Chinese. The topics are about daily life, and the reverse thinking perspective is helpful for me in learning English as well. For example, in this podcast, they often give some Chinese vocabulary and ask the other person to say the corresponding English word. At that moment, I am also thinking about how to express it in English.
Music#
- "Spring Outing" - Dou Jingtong
There are several songs in this album that I really like and listen to repeatedly. "River," "Fireworks," and "Orange Soda" are all imaginative and spirited songs. In addition, this album is Dou Jingtong's first Chinese album, and from these ten songs, you can see her attitude and understanding of independent music creation. Playing music and experimenting to create one's own unique style.
